The League of Women Voters of Morgantown-Mon. County is hosting a city council candidate forum at the Suncrest United Methodist Church at 479 Van Voorhis Rd. on Wednesday, April 17, from 7 pm to 9 pm.

All city council positions are up for election. Candidates in First and Third Wards are unopposed. Candidates running for council seats are: First Ward, Ron Bane; Second Ward, Bill Kawecki and Jim Manilla; Third Ward, Wes Nugent; Forth Ward, Bill Graham and Jenny Selin; Fifth Ward, Mark Furfari and Marti Shamberger; Sixth Ward, Mike Fike and Jay Redmond; Seventh Ward, Nancy Ganz and Linda Herbst.

City residents can vote for seven candidates, one from each ward. They are elected to serve two year terms beginning on July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015. The election will be held on, Tuesday, April 30.

Voters are encouraged to meet and ask questions of the candidates before they vote. Poling place locations can be found at the Morgantown city website, http://www.morgantownwv.gov/government/city-council/election-information/.

Following the forum refreshments will be served.

Candidate Forum for County Commission and County Assessor
Wednesday, October 24, 7-9 pm at Suncrest United Methodist Church

The League of Women Voters will hold a candidate forum for the candidates for Monongalia County Commission and Assessor. It will be Wednesday, October 24, from 7 to 9 pm at the Suncrest United Methodist Church on Van Voorhis Road.

Democrat Tom Bloom and Republican Joe Statler are running for County Commission and Republican Kent Pauley and Democrat Mark Musick are vying for the Assessor position.

Unopposed candidates Marcia Ashdown, Prosecuting Attorney, and Allen Kisner, Sheriff, will also be present.

The public is encouraged to come, meet and question their candidates before they vote. Early voting begins that day, October 24.

Morgantown Candidate Forum Wednesday, October 17

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum on Wednesday, October 17 from 7 to 9 pm at the Suncrest United Methodist Church on Van Voorhis Road.

The forum will include House of Delegate Candidates from the 51^st District: Democrats Tony Barill, Barbara Fleischauer, Nancy Jamison, Charlene Marshall and Billy Smerka and Republicans Cindy Frich, Amanda Pasdon, Jay Redmond, Kevin Scott Poe and John Woods.

Also present will be House candidates from the 49^th District, Republican Jeff Tansill and Democrat Mike Manypenny.

Others who have accepted the invitation to speak are State Senator Roman Prezioso, and Sheriff Allen Kisner.

There will be introductions by the candidates, and then answers to questions from the League and the audience. The public is encouraged to come and meet and question the candidates before they vote.

The League of Women Voters will hold two Candidate Forums on October 17 and 24 from 7 to 9 pm at the Suncrest United Methodist Church. The first forum on Wednesday, October 17 will feature the five Democratic and five Republican candidates running for the West Virginia House of Delegates in the 51st District. Also invited are the two candidates running for the House from the 49th District as well as the State Senators from the 2nd, 13th, and 14th Districts.

The second forum will be Wednesday, October 24 for the two candidates running for County Commission, Democrat Tom Bloom and Republican Joe Statler, as well as the Assessor candidates, Republican Kent Pauley and Democrat Mark Musick.

Voters are encouraged to come to meet and question their candidates before they vote. Voter registration ends on October 16 and early voting begins on October 24.

Candidates and incumbents from all parties running for office in West Virginia will speak for 3-5 minutes to introduce themselves and their platform to the students. October 11, 6:30-8:30.

Audience members will engage in one on one conversation with the candidates about the issues that matter to them as students and as citizens.B

Political parties will be present seeking volunterrs to help with campaigns and suggestions for how students can participate in the democratic process.

The League of Women Voters will also be on hand registering students to vote and explaining the electoral process.

Candidate Forum for candidates running for County Commission and Magistrate in Monongalia County sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Primary Election candidate forum for candidates running for County Commission and Magistrate in Monongalia County. It will be on Wednesday, April 25, from 7-9 pm at the Suncrest United Methodist Church on Van Voorhis Road.

Seven people are seeking the County Commission seat: Republicans Janel Nye and Joseph Statler, and Democrats Tom Bloom, James Smith, Junior Taylor, Donna Tennant and Betty Wiley. They are vying for the Western District seat vacated by Asel Kennedy. One person from each party will be elected in the Primary Election on May 8 to run in the fall.

Seven candidates are also running for Magistrate but they are competing for four positions. The lone Republican, Ronald Snyder, will automatically be on the ballot in the fall. Six Democrats are running including incumbents Sandy Holepit, Hershel Mullins, Jim Nabors, and Darris Summers. George Armistead and Jennifer Wilson are the challengers. Four Democrats will be selected to run in the General Election in the fall.

The candidates will introduce themselves, give their qualifications and reasons for running. There will be questions for the candidates and then time for refreshments and talking individually to the candidates.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Candidate Forum for the 10 candidates running for the West Virginia House of Delegates. It will be on Wednesday, October 20, at 7 pm at the Suncrest United Methodist Church on Van Voorhis Road. The public is invited.

The candidates attending are 4 Republicans: Amanda Pasdon, Kevin Patrick, Jr., Kevin Poe, and Chris Walters, and 4 Democrats: Tony Barill, Steve Cook, Barbara Fleischauer, and Charlene Marshall. Paul Brown, an Independent, and Tad Britch, a Libertarian will also be present.

The candidates will introduce themselves and then answer questions submitted by the audience. Afterwards there will be refreshments and time to talk individually with the candidates.
